Apresentação

Philippine Bausch, mais conhecida como Pina Bausch, nasceu em 27 de julho de 1940, na cidade de Solingen, Alemanha. Filha de August e Anita Bausch foi coreógrafa, bailarina, pedagoga de dança, e diretora da Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, localizada em Wuppertal, Alemanha (Pina Bausch - Wikipedia).

Faleceu em 30 de junho de 2009, cinco dias depois de ter-lhe sido diagnosticado um câncer, na cidade de Wuppertal, na Alemanha (Pina Bausch - Wikipedia).


Formação e Carreira

Aos quinze anos, Pina Bausch ingressou na Folkwang Hochschule, em Essen, para estudar dança. Foi aluna de Kurt Jooss, fundador da Folkwang, e sua formação nessa escola foi decisiva para as escolhas que fez posteriormente para a construção dramatúrgica de suas peças com o Tanztheater Wuppertal (SILVEIRA, 2009).

Em 1958, forma-se em Dança e Pedagogia da Dança na Folkwang (Pina Bausch - Wikipedia).

Em 1959, após se formar na Folkwang Hochschule, Pina Bausch foi para Nova York com bolsa de estudos do DAAD (Serviço Alemão de Intercâmbio Acadêmico) para estudar na Juilliard School. Em Nova York, tornou-se bailarina do Metropolitan Opera, sob direção de Antony Tudor e do New American Ballet, além ter sido professora convidada e solista da Companhia de Paul Sanasardo e Donya Feuer. Ainda em Nova York, teve contato com os professores Jose Limón, Anna Sokolow, Alfredo Corvino, entre outros (CYPRIANO, 2005)

Em 1962, Pina Bausch volta para a Alemanha a convite de Jooss e integra o Folkwang Ballet como solista.Quando Jooss se aposentou em 1968, Pina assumiu a direção do departamento de dança da Folkwang. Seu primeiro trabalho como coreógrafa foi em 1968 (CLIMENHAGA, 2009).

Em 1973, foi convidada ao cargo de diretora da companhia de dança do teatro de Wuppertal. Aceitou o convite e mudou o nome da companhia de Wuppertal Ballet para Tanztheater Wuppertal (SCHIMIDT, 2000)
